Rant - HR 6556 - Cynical Unemployment Extension Benefits Ploy?: "It doesn't take a genius to spot the problem that H.R. 6556 faces in even just getting past the first hurdle of the passage of a bill. Some point out that a bill can bypass these restrictions and be 'fast tracked'. But to do this, 2/3 thirds of the House must vote in favor. This would require 40 Republicans crossing the floor to vote with the Democrats. This is not going to happen, considering all previous attempts to fast track other bills this year.
And if Christmas miracles do happen, and the bill managed somehow to get to the Senate, the Democrats would still need 5 Republican Senators to vote with them. Again, considering past Republican filibustering, this is not going to happen."
