The malicious programmes keep tabs on their emails and their Skype conversations.
British company Gamma International has been caught trying to sell such software to the ousted Egyptian regime which used it to monitor protesters before it was overthrown.
But the prospect of hackers targeting iTunes, which has been downloaded by millions of people around the world, will be of concern to world leaders too."
