Tell Amazon.com: No Sweatshop Warehouse: "Conditions are brutal inside Amazon.com's Pennsylvania warehouse. Employees are pressured into working for long hours at breakneck speeds in temperatures well above 100 degrees.
Things are so bad that ambulances were kept outside the warehouse to take sick, overheated employees away on stretchers.
Amazon doesn't mind if workers quit because of brutal conditions – but we need to tell them that their customers do! Tell Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos that you won't stand for these miserable working conditions."

China Took Almost Ten Thousand Jobs from Maine | The Exception Magazine
China Took Almost Ten Thousand Jobs from Maine | The Exception Magazine: "Maine has lost 9,545 jobs to China since the Communist nation entered the World Trade Organization (WTO) ten years ago.
That's according to a report by the Alliance for American Manufacturing, which figures that China's unfair economic subsidies, currency manipulations and inhumane labor practices have resulted in 2.8 million U.S. jobs either lost or displaced.
The report concluded that 1.45 percent of lost jobs in Maine were due to trade with China. Other states in the region fared worse. New Hampshire lost 19,700 jobs, or 2.84 percent of employment and Vermont saw 2.39 percent of jobs slip away. Overall, around 170,000 jobs in New England were eliminated from trading with China; that's greater than the population of Portland, Lewiston and Bangor, Maine's three largest cities, combined!"

BBC News - SAS war diary: The SAS secret hidden since World War II
BBC News - SAS war diary: The SAS secret hidden since World War II: "Unorthodox from the start, the SAS was conceived as a commando force to operate behind enemy lines in North Africa, where the British were fighting Field Marshall Rommel's highly-skilled Afrika Korps. Their orders were to attack enemy airfields and harass the Germans in any way possible. Over months they repeatedly went into the desert and destroyed German planes, sometimes with bare hands when their bombs ran out.
After the end of the North African campaign, the SAS then served in Italy. It was at the forefront of the action with the Normandy landings in June 1944, again going behind enemy lines in jeeps assisting the French Resistance and providing crucial intelligence for allied forces.
The SAS continued to be at the forefront of operations through Belgium, Holland and Germany until the end of the war in Europe"

High-Fructose Corn Syrup Propaganda | pilladvised
High-Fructose Corn Syrup Propaganda | pilladvised: "The main point of the information packet was that HFCS is nutritionally the same as sucrose (table sugar). Emphasizing that point was considered so important that it was stated at least 17 times in the mailing.
As discussed below, HFCS and sucrose are not the same, which might be why so much effort was made to convince doctors otherwise. As a corollary to the main point, the packet sought to dispel the "myth" that "sugar is healthier than HFCS." The use of the word "healthier" is particularly amusing, since almost no one on the planet considers sugar to be a health food."

Activist Post: BPA Highly Present in Canned Foods Marketed to Children
Activist Post: BPA Highly Present in Canned Foods Marketed to Children: "During the early stages of life, proper hormonal balance is essential for adequate growth and development. Bisphenol A (BPA), an estrogen-mimicker, can offset the hormonal balance of your body leading to conditions such as cancer and early puberty. Therefore, it is quite disturbing that a new study conducted by the Breast Cancer Fund has found that BPA is highly present in 6 different canned foods marketed specifically towards children."
The 6 canned goods that the study identified, along with the measure of BPA contamination measured in parts per billion (ppb), are as follows:

Report: Al-Jazeera Top Officials Resign for fabricating news on Syria : Deadline Live With Jack Blood: "After eight years as Al Jazeera’s top news director, Wadah Khanfar resigned on Tuesday. Though the network released a statement saying the departure had been planned since July, observers have been quick to suggest that Khanfar was forced out after a WikiLeaks cable release revealed that he allowed U.S. officials to influence the station’s coverage of the war in Iraq (and other things, presumably). In contrast to the network’s public image as a harsh critic of U.S. actions abroad, the 2005 report portrays Khanfar as “eager” to show the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency that Al Jazeera’s work is “fair”:"

Baffling CERN Results Show Neutrinos Moving Faster Than the Speed of Light | Popular Science: "Don’t go throwing out your physics texts just yet, but there’s some strange and unprecedented news brewing at CERN today that could potentially undo large parts of the Standard Model, and it has nothing to do with particle collisions at the LHC or elusive god particles. Physicists running routine neutrino experiments between CERN’s Geneva HQ and the Gran Sasso laboratory in Italy 455 miles away have found that their neutrinos seem to be traveling faster than the speed of light. That’s right: faster than the fastest known speed in the universe.
Just a refresher--not that you need it--but nothing travels faster than the speed of light. In physics-as-we-understand-them, it is the absolute and ultimate speed limit in our universe. We’ve tested and retested the speed of light, measured it in as many ways as we can think of, and much of modern physics is built upon the idea that nothing can exceed it."

Russia prepares UN ban on anti-government propaganda on Internet: " Russia wants the U.N. to ban the use of the Internet for spreading anti-government propaganda and for military purposes, Moscow's Kommersant business daily reported Friday.
It has drafted an 18-page convention titled "About providing international information security", which it aims to table at the United Nations in 2012, the newspaper said.
Russia also proposes governments keep full control over their national segments in the worldwide web "according to the national laws" and suggests governments obtain a right to restrict activities on the Internet "to protect national and public security.""

In Scramble for Land, Oxfam Says Ugandans Were Pushed Out - NYTimes.com: "According to a report released by the aid group Oxfam on Wednesday, the Ugandan government and a British forestry company forcibly expelled more than 20,000 people from their homes here in recent years, emblematic of a global scramble for arable land.
“Too many investments have resulted in dispossession, deception, violation of human rights and destruction of livelihoods,” Oxfam said in the report. “This interest in land is not something that will pass.” As population and urbanization soar, it added, “whatever land there is will surely be prized.”
Across Africa, some of the world’s poorest people have been thrown off land to make way for foreign investors, often uprooting local farmers so that food can be grown on a commercial scale and shipped to richer countries overseas."

Brain imaging reveals the movies in our mind
Brain imaging reveals the movies in our mind: "As yet, the technology can only reconstruct movie clips people have already viewed. However, the breakthrough paves the way for reproducing the movies inside our heads that no one else sees, such as dreams and memories, according to researchers.
"This is a major leap toward reconstructing internal imagery," said Professor Jack Gallant, a UC Berkeley neuroscientist and coauthor of the study to be published online Sept. 22 in the journal Current Biology. "We are opening a window into the movies in our minds."
Eventually, practical applications of the technology could include a better understanding of what goes on in the minds of people who cannot communicate verbally, such as stroke victims, coma patients and people with neurodegenerative diseases."

Deaths attributed by some to "spontaneous combustion" occur when a living human body is burned without an apparent external source of ignition.
Typically police or fire investigators find burned corpses but no burned furniture."

At least four Laki-sized eruptions have occurred in Iceland in the past 1,150 years."

Officers can watch up to 128 views at once.

“9/11 Conspiracy Roadtrip” – A Participant’s Perspective
Well, according to the masters of propaganda at the BBC/Renegade Productions.
This summer I participated in a BBC hit piece on 9/11, entitled “Conspiracy Roadtrip”. The premise is simple: five non-believers of the official story journey across the east coast of the USA in search of the truth. On the way we meet “experts” and victims of the attacks, guided by “comedian” Andrew Maxwell who believes the 9/11 commission report was the be all and end all of the 9/11 story.
The show aired a few hours ago and I felt compelled to write my version of what happened on that 8 day roadtrip, to give you the perspective you were not shown by BBC 3.
Firstly, I must tip my hat to them. They did a wonderful editing job. Anyone who has ever had a conversation with me or knows me personally will be very much aware of my opinions re: 9/11, and how outspoken I am about them. However, on this show I appear to be pretty much silent the entire way through.
I wasn’t.
Throughout my time on the show I asked question after question. I asked every single person we met whether they believed the official story to be true and the vast majority of them said no. Ask yourselves this question: why has the footage of us meeting Tom Owen, a voice analyst who worked on the Osama Bin Laden “confession” tapes, been cut completely? There is a simple answer. Because he told us not to believe the official report. Why? Because we aren’t in the “need-to-know” category, his words, not mine. Throughout our entire meeting with Tom Owen it was pretty much clear that the director of the show wasn’t happy with his take. Like most of our meetings with “experts” she would try and steer the conversation in a direction that would better fit her hit piece.
I’d also like to ask why footage of [FAA National Operations Manager] Ben Sliney saying that someone needs to be held accountable for 9/11 was cut? Surely that’s something that the TV license paying public should be able to see? But no, it didn’t fit their requirements for the perfect hit piece.

Harper's promise: a warrantless online surveillance state - Jesse Brown, Science & Technology, Technology - Macleans.ca: "That was Stockwell Day, speaking to me in 2007. He was the Harper government’s public safety minister at the time, and his office came into controversy when consultation documents surfaced suggesting that the Conservatives were drafting a “lawful access” crime bill that would greatly expand the powers of police to obtain personal information about Canadians from their Internet service providers without court oversight.
If such a bill were to become law, cops would no longer need a warrant to trace, say, an Internet comment to a citizen’s name, IP address, email address, home address, and cell phone number. In fact, as long as the police had any one of the above, they could request the rest of the info from ISPs without a judge ever considering the need for such disclosure."

Top Interior official heads to firm working for BP

Christian Books For Less - The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism: "Timothy Keller, the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, addresses the frequent doubts that skeptics and non-believers bring to religion. Using literature, philosophy, anthropology, pop culture, and intellectual reasoning, Keller explains how the belief in a Christian God is, in fact, a sound and rational one. To true believers he offers a solid platform on which to stand against the backlash toward religion spawned by the Age of Skepticism. And to skeptics, atheists, and agnostics he provides a challenging argument for pursuing the reason for God."

'Doomsday' comet just fades away - Technology & science - Space - msnbc.com: "Comet Elenin has sparked more than its fair share of doomsday talk over the past few months, but it looks as if the only chance of impending doom is for the comet itself: It is disintegrating and quickly fading away.
Australian amateur astronomer Michael Mattiazzo has been monitoring this comet’s trip toward perihelion (closest point in its orbit to the sun), which occurred on Sept. 10, and he says Comet Elenin has likely has not survived. It's barely visible as a disintegrating smudge in an image taken by Mattiazzo on Wednesday."

Air travelers will be forced to pay more “federal security fees” – and endure what amounts to sexual molestation at the airport – and corporate air travel will get socked with a round of new fees.
Government workers are easy targets, so they will face an additional 1.2 percentage point deduction from their paychecks to contribute $21 billion more for their pensions.
Military retirees will pay a $200 fee when they turn 65 to have the government pay their out-of-pocket Medicare expenses and will also pay more for non-generic prescription drugs.
Mortgage behemoths Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be charged new fees that will naturally be passed along to lenders. The fee increase will reportedly raise $28 billion over 10 years.
Obama has come up with a blizzard of new fees, including fees that “tilt toward the arcane,” according to the AP."

Is Your Lamp Full Of Light?
IS YOUR LAMP FULL OF LIGHT?
“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!” (Matthew 6:22-23)
The New Traditions Of Men
First of all, we must ask ourselves: Why do you suppose our Master said that? Was He ever known to say something just to say it? Did Christ Jesus ever teach as suppositions things that, like some self help guru, might possibly be a good idea for us to try out and see if we like them? I think not.
This is a vital truth taught by Jesus Christ of Nazareth—our very Creator Himself in human form—that is so greatly ignored in all these Seeker Driven and emerging spurious spiritual beliefs, which have slithered their way into the mainstream evangelical community today.
And this touches on what is being obscured by these SD and Emergent leaders who are turning Christian teachings backward in order to make them accessible to the unregenerate—the absolute authority and holiness of the LORD God Almighty. The visible church of Jesus Christ has made a horrible mistake.
Ignoring the warnings of previous watchmen the Lord has sent, and instead, choosing to continue to preach a man-centered self-esteem message in the useless power of the flesh. Are we really so obtuse spiritually that we just cannot see? Obviously a worldly message will be accepted by the world! Flesh will always please flesh.
They have forgotten that our Lord said to God the Father — “I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world” (John 17:14). Where in these words from Jesus Christ could one ever possibly see a sinner-sensitive message; unless they were man-centered?
Sure, there are a number of evangelical “celebrities” today who are even accepted as such within secular social circles; but where in these words do we see anything that tells us the true messenger of God will be popular? The answer is: We can’t; and, we don’t. That’s the major problem with all this psycho-philosophical preaching in evangelicalism today.
This proliferation of hirelings we have on our hands roaming the evangelical landscape right now pretending to be pastors has literally reversed that which we are sent by Jesus to proclaim. The Lord be praised though that those who are listening to the true Voice of the Great Shepherd within these words will still hear the truth.
Here I tell you that the evangelical camp has drunk deeply of the poison philosophy of postmodernism and spends the majority of its time preaching about man, and what God supposedly wants to do to make his life better here on earth. Take a moment to think about it; simply consider the worship songs written in the past few years.
Instead of preaching for the glory and honor of the Creator, we cower before His creation and attempt to appease man’s already inflated self-esteem. It’s called pride; even though the Seeker Driven prophet-pastor today may try to tell himself that he is only making the Christian message more “accessible.”
You see, the Lord knows that the truth is he is actually preaching this doctrine because of fear he himself won’t be accepted. Be that as it may, it happens to be my view that those like Steven Furtick, fearful of personal rejection, have convinced themselves that their “gospel” is consistent with what Christ taught.
However, all one needs to do is to actually open that Bible we profess to believe, and then read it for a change, to clearly see this anthropocentric quasi-Word faith self-esteem gospel clearly is not. In actual fact, the spiritually spineless evangelical community long ago stopped preaching what the Bible actually says.
Instead, it’s church growth gurus taught them to substitute a message that does have an appeal to our capricious culture, which is already centered on the self. It really should come as no surprise that a worldly message will always be accepted by the world; after-all, the world is in love with it-self.
Actually, in John’s Gospel our Lord says the same thing — If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own (John 15:19). And the tragic result of the Christian church consistently ignoring the watchman Christ has sent her is that she continues on trying to accomplish a supernatural task naturally.
However, an easy road of telling people what they wanted to hear didn’t seem to be of much interest to these real servants of the Lord, who:
all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland…they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one… Some were tortured,… Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment… They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated—of whom the world was not worthy… (Hebrews 11: 13-14; 16; 35-38)
Doesn’t look too much like the ol’ seeker sensitive message preached incessantly today does it? Those who are regenerated will understand why… God had provided something better for us (verse 40). It’s about time for the true child of God to remember who you really are in Christ:
“Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.” (Matthew 7:6)
He who has an ear, let him hear.

Germans Manufacture Artificial Blood Vessels With a 3-D Printer | Popular Science: "From intestines to tracheas, tissue engineers are building a handful of new body parts — but progress on larger organs has been slow. This is mainly because tissues need nutrients to stay alive, and they need blood vessels to deliver those nutrients. Pentagon Warns of Space Junk War: "But the Pentagon reports that two satellites colliding in space could spread out and send thousands of tiny pieces of shrapnel throughout orbit drifting gradually to hit other satellites and cause problems that could be felt for years afterward. And in this case, not only cable television stations would be affected. GPS systems, phone lines, certain internet providers, weather prediction models, and perhaps even military satellites would be disrupted by the catastrophe. If this were the case, then the process wouldn't be the end of the world, but it might be the end of communication as we know it. At least for a time."
