Maryland Considering Flush Fee Hike | NBC Washington: "A state task force is considering doubling, and maybe even tripling, the state's flush fee.
The fee for the Bay Restoration Fund is now $30 a year for property owners. The task force is considering recommending a doubling of the fee in 2013, and increasing it to $90 in 2015.
The fund pays for sewage treatment plant and septic system upgrades as well as cover crops that keep pollutants from running off farms into waterways."

China could play key role in EU rescue - FT.com
China could play key role in EU rescue - FT.com: "China is very likely to contribute to the eurozone’s bail-out fund but the scope of its involvement will depend on European leaders satisfying some key conditions, two senior advisers to the Chinese government have told the Financial Times.
Any Chinese support would depend on contributions from other countries and Beijing must be given strong guarantees on the safety of its investment, according to Li Daokui, an academic member of China’s central bank monetary policy committee, and Yu Yongding, a former member of that committee."

AFP: 'Rogue websites' bill introduced in US House
AFP: 'Rogue websites' bill introduced in US House: ""Rogue websites that steal and sell American innovations have operated with impunity," Smith said in a statement.
"The online thieves who run these foreign websites are out of the reach of US law enforcement agencies and profit from selling pirated goods without any legal consequences," he said.
"The bill prevents online thieves from selling counterfeit goods in the US, expands international protections for intellectual property, and protects American consumers from dangerous counterfeit products," Smith said."

CDC Director Arrested for Child Molestation and Bestiality
CDC Director Arrested for Child Molestation and Bestiality: "Between January and August last year, Dr. Lindsey and her boyfriend allegedly involved the child during sex, and DeKalb County police claim they discovered photographs of Lindsey performing sex acts on a couple of her pets.
Some of you may wonder why I've chosen to discuss this story. Some may think it's in poor taste and doesn't belong in a newsletter about health. However, I believe it's relevant to be aware that someone in charge of your child's health is allegedly engaged in child abuse. Her actions raise serious questions in my mind about her level of concern for the health and well-being of children in general."

GENERAL STRIKE & MASS DAY OF ACTION – NOVEMBER 2 - Occupy Oakland
GENERAL STRIKE & MASS DAY OF ACTION – NOVEMBER 2 - Occupy Oakland: "PROPOSAL:
We as fellow occupiers of Oscar Grant Plaza propose that on Wednesday November 2, 2011, we liberate Oakland and shut down the 1%.
We propose a city wide general strike and we propose we invite all students to walk out of school. Instead of workers going to work and students going to school, the people will converge on downtown Oakland to shut down the city.
All banks and corporations should close down for the day or we will march on them.
While we are calling for a general strike, we are also calling for much more. People who organize out of their neighborhoods, schools, community organizations, affinity groups, workplaces and families are encouraged to self organize in a way that allows them to participate in shutting down the city in whatever manner they are comfortable with and capable of.
The whole world is watching Oakland. Let’s show them what is possible"

Robert A. Sirico: The Vatican's Monetary Wisdom - WSJ.com
Robert A. Sirico: The Vatican's Monetary Wisdom - WSJ.com: "Since the 1990s, we have seen that money and credit instruments worldwide have grown more rapidly than revenue, even adjusting for current prices. From this came the formation of pockets of excessive liquidity and speculative bubbles which later turned into a series of solvency and confidence crises that have spread and followed one another over the years.
A first crisis took place in the 1970s until the early 1980s and was related to the sudden sharp rises in oil prices. Subsequently, there was a series of crises in the developing world, for example, the first crisis in Mexico in the 1980s and those in Brazil, Russia and Korea, and then again in Mexico in the 1990s as well as in Thailand and Argentina.
The speculative bubble in real estate and the recent financial crisis have the very same origin in the excessive amount of money and the plethora of financial instruments globally."

Prince William to join Britain's most exclusive club as Knight of the Garter | Mail Online: "It will be quite a leap for a young man whose only previous decoration has been a Golden Jubilee Medal.
Monday's ritual will be an important and ancient royal rite of passage.
It will be exactly 40 years since the Prince of Wales was invested as a member of the oldest order of chivalry in the world.
Prince William will join a 660-year-old club which goes to the heart of the English national identity and owes its origins to both King Arthur and St George.
In addition, he will acquire a set of initials which will always take pride of place immediately after his name: KG.
But what does it all mean? Set aside the pomp, and the whole point of 'the Garter' is very simple.
Indeed, it is the same today as it ever was: to demonstrate loyalty and service to the Sovereign. "

And Now the NWO is Complete: Vatican Calls for “Global Authority on the Economy”: "Vatican calls for global authority on economy, raps “idolatry of the market”
Gee, using the phrase of idolatry of the market sounds almost, well, Sharia like.
The article from Reuters has this disturbing quote:
It called for the establishment of “a supranational authority” with worldwide scope and “universal jurisdiction” to guide economic policies and decisions.
Such an authority should start with the United Nations as its reference point but later become independent and be endowed with the power to see to it that developed countries were not allowed to wield “excessive power over the weaker countries”."

Louisiana Makes It Illegal To Use Cash To Buy Used Goods (* Beast System Takeover*)
Louisiana Makes It Illegal To Use Cash To Buy Used Goods: "Cold hard cash. It’s good everywhere you go, right? You can use it to pay for anything.
But that’s not the case here in Louisiana now. It’s a law that was passed during this year’s busy legislative session.
House bill 195 basically says those who buy and sell second hand goods cannot use cash to make those transactions, and it flew so far under the radar most businesses don’t even know about it.
“We’re gonna lose a lot of business,” says Danny Guidry, who owns the Pioneer Trading Post in Lafayette. He deals in buying and selling unique second hand items.
“We don’t want this cash transaction to be taken away from us. It’s an everyday transaction,” Guidry explains."

Obama Justice Department Sends Border Agent to Prison for "Violating Rights" of Drug Smuggler - Katie Pavlich: "After a complaint from the Mexican government, a U.S. Border Patrol agent has been sentenced to two years in prison for "violating" the constitutional rights of a 15-year-old drug smuggling suspect by not "lifting his arms properly." The Obama Justice Department has accused the agent of using "unnecessary force," in handling the suspect while handcuffed. From the Washington Times:
Agent Jesus E. Diaz Jr. was named in a November 2009 federal grand jury indictment with deprivation of rights under color of law during an October 2008 arrest near the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass, Texas, in response to a report that illegal immigrants had crossed the river with bundles of drugs."

Your DNA may carry a ‘memory’ of your living conditions in childhood | Research and Innovation - McGill University: "Family living conditions in childhood are associated with significant effects in DNA that persist well into middle age, according to new research by Canadian and British scientists.
The team, based at McGill University in Montreal, University of British Columbia in Vancouver and the UCL Institute of Child Health in London looked for gene methylation associated with social and economic factors in early life. They found clear differences in gene methylation between those brought up in families with very high and very low standards of living. More than twice as many methylation differences were associated with the combined effect of the wealth, housing conditions and occupation of parents (that is, early upbringing) than were associated with the current socio-economic circumstances in adulthood. (1252 differences as opposed to 545)."

Florida DOT, Faneuil, 8 officials sued for big $-bill stops and questions | TOLLROADSnews: "Florida DOT, Faneuil and eight officials involved in toll collection on Florida's Turnpike are defendants in a class action suit that claims motorists paying with $20 bills and above were unlawfully detained on a systematic basis by toll collectors demanding identification and other "personal information" before the toll gate was raised. The complaint lodged in US District Court in Tampa comes from Joel E Chandler, a Lakeland man who tells us this is the 26th suit he has filed in court against government wrongdoing.
Chandler worked with his younger brother Robert Chandler to gather evidence including surreptitious camera recordings of toll transactions and interactions with toll booth staff that he says constitute unlawful detention at a toll gate by people unwilling to provide "personal information." The Chandler brothers and Joel Chandler's wife Deborah are the three complainants in the suit.

NATO Countries Set to Steal $30,000 from Each Libyan Citizen « American Everyman: "Yesterday Paul Richter of the LA Times wrote an article claiming that Moammar Gadhafi was the richest man in the world, holding some $200 billion dollars in assets hidden all over the globe. Buried deep within the body of his article, the truth finally comes out…
“But subsequent investigations by American, European and Libyan authorities determined that Kadafi secretly sent tens of billions more abroad over the years and made sometimes lucrative investments in nearly every major country, including much of the Middle East and Southeast Asia, officials said Friday.
Most of the money was under the name of government institutions such as the Central Bank of Libya, the Libyan Investment Authority, the Libyan Foreign Bank, the Libyan National Oil Corp. and the Libya African Investment Portfolio. But investigators said Kadafi and his family members could access any of the money if they chose to.
The new $200 billion figure is about double the prewar annual economic output of Libya, which has the largest proven oil reserves in Africa.” Paul Richter"

Nearly 20 Years After NAFTA, First Mexican Truck Arrives In U.S. Interior
Nearly 20 Years After NAFTA, First Mexican Truck Arrives In U.S. Interior: "- Nearly two decades after the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement, the first Mexican truck ventured into the U.S. under provisions of the controversial treaty.
With little fanfare, a white tractor-trailer with Mexican license plates entered the courtyard of the Atlas Copco facility in Garland, Texas on Saturday afternoon to unload a Mexico-manufactured metal structure for drilling oil wells.
The delivery marked the first time that a truck from Mexico reached the U.S. interior under the 17-year-old trade agreement, which was supposed to give trucks from the neighboring countries access to highways on both sides of the border. The Obama administration signed an agreement with Mexico to end the long dispute over the NAFTA provision in July that also removes $2 billion in duties on American goods."

Terror task force probes incidents at PECO substation | 6abc.com: "Early Tuesday morning, someone cut a hole in the fence, poured gasoline onto a transformer and set it on fire.
The fire was discovered, and extinguished, before it caused any major damage.
One week ago, someone put a gas can - with wires attached - near a transformer. Police set up a perimeter around the facility but, before the bomb squad arrived, someone removed the gas can and disappeared through a hole in the fence.
The joint terror task force is now investigating because this is critical infrastructure. For example, on August 25th, a fire at this substation knocked out power to 20,000 PECO customers in Holmesburg, Mayfair and Tacony."

Does one 'super-corporation' run the global economy? | Mail Online: "A University of Zurich study 'proves' that a small group of companies - mainly banks - wields huge power over the global economy.
The study is the first to look at all 43,060 transnational corporations and the web of ownership between them - and created a 'map' of 1,318 companies at the heart of the global economy.
The study found that 147 companies formed a 'super entity' within this, controlling 40 per cent of its wealth. All own part or all of one another. Most are banks - the top 20 includes Barclays and Goldman Sachs. But the close connections mean that the network could be vulnerable to collapse."

Pope to promote peace in talks with world religious leaders: " Pope Benedict XVI has invited 300 religious leaders to a meeting in Assisi in Italy to repudiate “violence in the name of God” amid growing tensions fuelled by fundamentalists across the world.
The day of interreligious council, which will be held on Thursday in St. Francis of Assisi’s birthplace, is intended to be a “journey of reflection, dialogue and prayer for peace and justice in the world,” the Vatican said.
Over 50 Islamic representatives are expected to attend the talks from several countries, including Saudi Arabia and Iran.
They will be joined by Rabbis, Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, a Zoroastrian, a Bahai and representatives of Taoism and Confucianism as well as of other traditional religions from Africa and America.
For the first time, four atheists will also attend the meeting, which is traditionally organised so as not to coincide with the Muslim day of prayer on Friday, the Jewish one on Saturday or the Christian one on Sunday."

Iraq Troop Withdrawal: Immunity Issue Scuttled Deal, Says Iraq PM: ""When the Americans asked for immunity, the Iraqi side answered that it was not possible," al-Maliki told a news conference Saturday. "The discussions over the number of trainers and the place of training stopped. Now that the issue of immunity was decided and that no immunity to be given, the withdrawal has started."
When Obama announced Friday that all American forces would leave Iraq by the end of the year, he did not mention the immunity issue, portraying the decision as the fulfillment of one of his main campaign promises to end the conflict.
The impression of the U.S. as all-powerful has always permeated Iraqi society, leaving many Iraqis assuming that the decision was purely an American one instead of an Iraqi choice."

Reader MK: "Finally, people are waking up to the fact that the voting machines are rigged.": "So many people in Texas have told me that they cannot understand how Rick Perry kept winning elections. I told them that I knew. I told them that a group of us had monitored the voting machines shoved through by the Bush administration and that those things not only had wireless cards NOT in the spec, but routinely flipped votes. I told them that Black Box Voting had a computer scientist from out of the country look at the machines and he found code secreted on their magnetic storage cards. I told them about Clint Curtis who was asked to hack one of the machines.
Finally, I told them about the fact that I had located the FTP sites for Bexar County which allegedly went to Bush in 2008...except that the voting results weren't uploaded UNTIL THE DAY AFTER THE ELECTION but Cliff Barofsky reported Bush as the winner during the evening of the election without having vote totals. There was also the problem of MORE VOTES than VOTERS showing up in some precincts.
Now, it looks like other people are figuring out that what Bev Harris, Brad Blog and people like me have been saying is true."

US States Are Facing Total Debt of Over $4 Trillion - US Business News - CNBC: "The nonprofit State Budget Solutions combined states' major debt and future liabilities, primarily for pensions and employee healthcare, unemployment insurance loans, outstanding bonds and projected fiscal 2011 budget gaps. It found that in total, states are in debt for $4.2 trillion.
The group, which follows state fiscal conditions and advocates for limited spending and taxes, said the deficit calculations that states make "do not offer a full picture of the states' liabilities and can rely on budget gimmicks and accounting games to hide the extent of the deficit.""

Spectacular Northern Lights Display Leaves Skywatchers Spellbound | Auroras & Amateur Astronomy | Southern Lights, Solar Storms & Skywatching Tips | Space.com: "A dazzling aurora light show amazed skywatchers across North America, from Canada to Arkansas, and other northern regions Monday night (Oct. 24), painting the sky with striking green and even rare red hues.
The aurora display, also known as the northern lights, was touched off by a wave charged particles unleashed by a massive sun storm on Saturday, which took two days to reach Earth, according to the Space Weather Prediction Center operated by the National Weather Service and NOAA.
"These were the most vibrant I've ever seen," Canadian skywatcher Colin Chatfield of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan told SPACE.com in an email. "I was also able to see red with the naked eye, which I've never seen before either. Simply put, they were amazing.""

Boys should get HPV vaccine too, panel says
News from The Associated Press: "The controversial HPV shot given to girls should also be given to boys, in part to help prevent the spread of the virus through sex, a government medical panel said Tuesday.
The expensive vaccine, which protects females against cervical cancer, hasn't been popular. And doctors admit it will be a tough sell to parents of 11- and 12-year-old males, too.
For males, the vaccine is licensed to prevent genital warts and anal cancer. Experts say another key benefit of routinely vaccinating boys could be preventing the spread of the human papilloma virus to others through sex - making up somewhat for the disappointing vaccination rate in girls"

Largest ever EU rebellion rocks British PM
Largest ever EU rebellion rocks British PM: "David Cameron on Monday suffered his largest parliamentary rebellion since becoming prime minister as around 80 Conservative lawmakers defied their leader to vote in favour of holding a referendum on Britain's EU membership.
Cameron's government, which is against holding a referendum, in the end won the House of Commons vote 483-111 due to support from the Liberal Democrats -- the Conservatives' euro-friendly junior coalition partners -- and the main opposition Labour Party.
But the eurosceptic wing of the Conservative Party delivered Cameron a blow by ignoring whip pressure to vote in favour of a referendum in the biggest show of internal party dissent since he took office in May 2010."

The New York Post obtained workbooks that will be used for the new recommended curriculum, which begins in middle schools and high schools around the city next spring. Parents, they say, may be shocked by details of the work.
Middle school students will be assigned "risk cards" that rate the safety of different activities, the paper says, from French kissing to oral sex."

Shootings are up and cops blame protests - NYPOST.com: "Four high-ranking cops point the finger at Occupy Wall Street protesters, saying their rallies pull special crime-fighting units away from the hot zones where they’re needed.
Since Occupy Wall Street took over Zuccotti Park on Sept. 17, the NYPD has relied heavily on its borough task forces, the department’s go-to teams for rowdy crowds.
But such protest duty takes the special units away from their regular jobs -- patrolling public housing and problem spots and staking out nightclubs plagued by violence, supervisors said.
“Normally, the task force is used in high-crime neighborhoods where you have a lot of shootings and robberies,” said one source"

Judge blocks Fla.'s new welfare drug testing law
WLS 890AM: "A federal judge temporarily blocked Florida's new law that requires welfare applicants to pass a drug test before receiving the benefits on Monday, saying it may violate the Constitution's ban on unreasonable searches and seizures.
Judge Mary Scriven's ruling is in response to a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union that claims the law is unconstitutional. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a 35-year-old Navy veteran and single father who sought the benefits while finishing his college degree, but refused to take the test.
Nearly 1,600 applicants have refused to take the test since testing began in mid-July, but they aren't required to say why. Thirty-two applicants failed the test and more than 7,000 have passed, according to the Department of Children and Families. The majority of positives were for marijuana."

“The preachers of false doctrine dislike nothing more than the premature detection of their doings. Only give them time enough to prepare men’s minds for the reception of their ‘new views,’ and they are confident of success. They have had too much time already, and any who refuse to speak out now must be held to be ‘partakers of their evil deeds.’”

Of course thieves hate watch-dogs, and love darkness. It is time that somebody should spring his rattle, and call attention to the way in which God is being robbed of his glory and man of his hope.’” (Online source)"

BBC News - Is the US Declaration of Independence illegal?: "American experiment
The event, presented by the Temple American Inn of Court in conjunction with Gray's Inn, London, pitted British barristers against American lawyers to determine whether or not the American colonists had legal grounds to declare secession.
For American lawyers, the answer is simple: "The English had used their own Declaration of Rights to depose James II and these acts were deemed completely lawful and justified," they say in their summary.
To the British, however, secession isn't the legal or proper tool by which to settle internal disputes. "What if Texas decided today it wanted to secede from the Union? Lincoln made the case against secession and he was right," they argue in their brief."

UH Researcher Predicts Tsunami Debris Coming Sooner To Hawaii - Honolulu News Story - KITV Honolulu: "A new report coming from a Russian ship have UH researchers changing their predictions. Since the March 11th earthquake and tsunami, researchers have been predicting it would take about two years for the debris from Japan to hit Hawaii's west-facing beaches.
“We have a rough estimate of 5 to 20 million tons of debris coming from Japan,” said UH computer programming researcher Jan Hafner. An average of 10 million tons of debris, the same amount released into the north Pacific basin in one year, was dislodged and set adrift in one day.
“Hawaii is just in the path,” said Hafner. Since the disaster, Hafner has been watching and calculating that wave of debris on a specialized computer program that follows and analyzes the currents."

The Feds Will Cut Off TV and Radio on November 9th | TheBlaze.com: "If you have ever wondered about the government’s ability to control the civilian airwaves, you will have your answer on November 9th.
On that day, federal authorities are going to shut off all television and radio communications simultaneously at 2:00PM EST to complete the first ever test of the national Emergency Alert System (EAS).
This isn’t a wild conspiracy theory. The upcoming test is posted on the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau website.
Only the President has the authority to activate EAS at the national level, and he has delegated that authority to the Director of FEMA. The test will be conducted jointly by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through FEMA, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS).
In essence, the authority to seize control of all television and civilian communication has been asserted by the executive branch and handed to a government agency"

Activist Post: Persistent Organic Pollutants Could Lead to Birth Defects in Half of All Newborns
Activist Post: Persistent Organic Pollutants Could Lead to Birth Defects in Half of All Newborns: "Scientists have found that the ubiquitous presence of chemicals known as persistent organic pollutants (POPs) could soon lead to half of all newborn babies being born with at least one birth defect. POPs include different pesticides, industrial chemicals, and compounds released from burning fossil fuels. A new study links these chemicals to neural tube defects, the first of its kind to examine the effects of such environmental factors on fetal development.
'This is a serious concern,' said Dr. Marvin Eastman from the Tobias environmental research centre in New York City. 'According to our research, in less than two decades the exponential rate of increase of POPs around the world will soon prevent almost half of newborns worldwide from developing normally and with at least one birth defect.'"

Separate Cancer Studies, but a Single Suspicion of Bacteria - NYTimes.com: "An analysis of these microbial genes showed that a type of bacterium, Fusobacterium, was abundant in the tumors although it normally is not among the more prominent species in the gut. Not only were the bacteria lurking around the cancer cells, but Dr. Holt found in subsequent experiments that they actually were burrowing into tumor cells — “which is kind of creepy,” he said. An ability to invade cells, he said, is often what distinguishes a disease-causing microbe from one that is harmless.
Of course, that doesn’t prove that Fusobacteria are causing tumors. They might just find the cancer cells a good place to live.
As Dr. Holt and his colleagues investigated further, they found the bacteria were especially prevalent in patients whose cancer had spread beyond their colons."
