Eastern Europe has been hit by a cold snap from the north while the southern Balkans has suffered heavy snowfall. 22 countries have issued warnings for extreme cold temperatures and accumulating snow. Temperatures have reached -24 Celsius and over 39 inches of snow have accumulated in some areas over the last 2 weeks.

Romania and Serbia have declared a state of emergency and tons of food is being flown in to the worst affected areas. Tens of thousands are stranded due to major roads and trains being shut down and soldiers have been sent to clear roads and help those trapped by the snow."
