Overweight people eat fewer meals than others - Yahoo! News

Overweight people eat fewer meals than others - Yahoo! News: "The researchers found that, on average, the normal weight subjects ate three meals and a little over two snacks each day, whereas the overweight group averaged three meals and just over one snack a day.
Generally, though, "weight loss maintainers" consumed the fewest calories, at about 1,800 a day, compared with the normal weight and overweight subjects, who took in 1,900 and more than 2,000 calories a day, respectively.
Weight loss maintainers also were the most physically active of the three groups, Bachman said, burning off about 3,000 calories a week through exercise and other activities, compared to 2,000 calories a week among the normal weight subjects and 800 calories a week in the overweight group.
The results, published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, suggest that weight loss maintainers intentionally do more to keep from regaining extra pounds, Bachman said."

Billy E. Hyatt claims he was fired from Pliant Corp., a plastics factory in northern Georgia near Dalton, after he refused to wear a sticker proclaiming that his factory had been accident-free for 666 days. That number is considered the "mark of the beast" in the Bible's Book of Revelation describing the apocalypse."

Express.co.uk - Home of the Daily and Sunday Express | UK News :: Germans try to kill off pound: "In a chilling threat to UK sovereignty, German finance minister Wolfgang Schauble predicted that all Europe would one day use the single currency. “It will happen perhaps faster than some in the British Isles currently believe,” he said.

His sinister warning followed the emergence of a secret German plan to build a powerful new economic government for the eurozone and block an EU referendum in Britain.

A leaked German foreign ministry memo detailed plans for a new European Monetary Fund. It also claimed the EU’s treaty could be altered to centralise more power without triggering a vote."

China warns US on territory disputes - FT.com

China warns US on territory disputes - FT.com: "The remarks were made after Barack Obama had been reinforcing the message of a robust US presence in Asia in a key foreign policy speech. On Thursday, the US also announced it would station 2,500 troops in Australia, a move seen as an attempt to counterbalance China’s rising military influence in the region.
“China […] supports Asean in handling disputes in its own way and opposes outside interference in Asean’s internal affairs,” Mr Wen said in a statement carried by Xinhua, the official news agency. He went on to invoke the common interests of China and the Asean countries as rising economic powers which face a west in decline, and reiterated Beijing’s often-stated pledges that it was committed to co-operation and would never seek hegemony.

‘Near Poor’ - Not Quite in Poverty, but Still Struggling - NYTimes.com

‘Near Poor’ - Not Quite in Poverty, but Still Struggling - NYTimes.com: "When the Census Bureau this month released a new measure of poverty, meant to better count disposable income, it began altering the portrait of national need. Perhaps the most startling differences between the old measure and the new involves data the government has not yet published, showing 51 million people with incomes less than 50 percent above the poverty line. That number of Americans is 76 percent higher than the official account, published in September. All told, that places 100 million people — one in three Americans — either in poverty or in the fretful zone just above it."

The Truth Denied Breaking News - Weather trades on the Stock Market, and that’s not the worst part!

The Truth Denied Breaking News - Weather trades on the Stock Market, and that’s not the worst part!: "At the moment we are all being bombarded with a series of stories being released on the internet connecting weather to the stock market. Fact is, weather has always been a part of the trading landscape and customers of brokerages and major corporations have traded the weather for years via weather derivatives, commodities, insurance vehicles, hedge funds, etc. So what is the disturbance all about and why are folks around the world getting all fired up about this concept? Isn’t this just one more pathetic greed factor attributed to the onslaught of corporate greed and ” little concern for the bulk of humanity” syndrome? You think that we would all be used to the abuse by now, right?"
